Thomas Cavanagh

Tom oversees the distance learning strategy, policies, and practices of UCF, the nation’s 2nd largest university. In his career, Tom has administered e-learning development for both academic (public and private) and industrial (Fortune 500, government/military) audiences. A regular presenter at academic and industry conferences, he is an award-winning instructional designer, program manager, faculty member, and administrator. His research interests include e-learning, technical communication, and the societal influence of technology on education, training, culture, and commerce. He is also an award-winning author of several mystery novels.

Haydee M. Cuevas

Prior to joining ERAU, Haydee worked for over 7 years as a Research Scientist at SA Technologies, Inc. She has a Ph.D. in Applied Experimental and Human Factors Psychology and a B.A. in Psychology, both from the University of Central Florida. She has over 15 years of experience as a human factors researcher, investigating a broad range of human performance issues in complex operational environments, and has worked on numerous Department of Defense, government, and industry-funded projects with external funding (as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator) totaling over $2.9 million. Her research experience and interests fall under the following three general categories: human-automation interaction; situation awareness; and technology-mediated cognitive skills training and assessment.

Haydee has held over 40 volunteer and elected appointments in professional organizations, including the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, American Psychological Association – Division 21 Applied Experimental and Engineering Psychology, and the Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments. She has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for various journals and as the Associate Editor / Administrative Liaison on two Journal of Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making special issues: "Improving Human-Robot Interaction in Complex Operational Environments: Translating Theory into Practice" (2011) and "Exploring Cognitive Readiness in Complex Operational Environments: Advances in Theory and Practice" (2012-2013).

Rainer Flor

Rainer Flor is an experienced Creative Director with over ten years of professional experience in digital media development, including mobile app development, photography, videography, and graphic design. With a talent for problem solving and creative design, Rainer is able to develop visually appealing applications with thoughtfully refined functionality. He believes that mobile services should be an experience tailored to the needs and preferences of the individual, offering personalized options and recommendations.

In addition to his current focus on mobile application development, Rainer has a passion for education, particularly the ways in which advancements in technology can be used to improve learning. His vision for the future of education includes more immersive, social educational experiences and educational opportunities in every living room.

John Lux

John is a category expert in studio production and is responsible for bringing advanced digital media technology to IDEAS, an Orlando media design company that provides concept development, experience design, branding, training, media production, and mobile development services. IDEAS was the first fully functional High Definition post production facility in Central Florida and continues to be involved in HD post-production for cable, broadcast, feature films and corporate projects.

John is a social media enthusiast and has been handling the IDEAS social media strategy since 2009, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and day to day management of the company website. He serves as Treasurer for the entertainment industry’s not-for-profit Film Florida while being the Chair of its Marketing Committee. In 2014, John was also one of 28 honorees of the Orlando Business Journal’s annual C-Level Awards, celebrating Central Florida top CIOs, COOs, CFOs, CMOs and CXOs.

John started in operations for the Walt Disney Company and helped IDEAS transition from Disney to an independent corporation and has been instrumental in the transformation and growth of the company. After graduating from Purdue University, John worked in the live entertainment industry managing a staff of 300+ for an outdoor music and entertainment venue in the Chicago area before moving to Florida to join Disney where he received Disney’s rare and highly respected Partners In Excellence award. His strong Chicago roots are reflected in his undying passion for college football, especially his alma mater, the Purdue Boilermakers and his hometown teams: Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox, Cubs and Northwestern University.

Angel Martinez

Angel Martinez is the Director of product development for Simulation and Training Solutions at Elbit Systems of America. Mr. Martinez has over 30 years of experience in the operational logistics, simulation, and training markets.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Martinez held positions in engineering management, program management, and business development for Lockheed Martin. Mr. Martinez has extensive experience in all facets of product development and sustainment and has led numerous DoD programs in the areas of training, simulation, and logistics.

Mr. Martinez holds a Masters in International Business Administration from Webster University and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from University of Puerto Rico, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.

Ken Pratt

Ken joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in January 2013 as vice president for innovative strategies, having served as Vice President of eMarketing at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for many years. After completing his master’s TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) degree at San Francisco State University, Ken spent a number of years teaching English to international students in San Francisco before moving into the publishing business. In his 20+ years in educational publishing, Ken had the opportunity to sell, build, and market products. Ken is excited about exploring new ideas and fresh insights into the ways that every day, ordinary people are engaged over time in important causes like Bible translation.

David S. Rogers

David founded Allogy Interactive LLC, an Orlando-based mobile application developer for education, health care, nonprofits, government and business, in 2009. He has helped develop applications ranging from government content aggregating to digital medical textbooks. His biggest focus is on education, particularly in emerging markets. David’s areas of interest include mobile software development for distributed service delivery, informatics, and humanitarian and disaster response missions. David helped develop a mobile learning platform for adult education now being used at the Nairobi International School of Theology in Kenya. His dissertation, Capillarity: A Theory of mLearning and its application in Emerging Markets, provides a framework for establishing learning networks.

Sherry Steward

  • Director of Applied Research and Life Cycle Support, Sentel Corporation

Sherry is the Director of Applied Research and Life Cycle Support for Sentel, a simulation and training company in Orlando, Florida. She is tasked with managing specialty engineering disciplines, integrated logistics support services, technical documentation developments, and simulation and training projects for military acquisitions. Sherry worked as a hardware and software technical writer assigned to military developments for 12 years before moving into management. Her specialty is Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, legacy data conversion, and intelligent technical documentation. Sherry manages simulations and modeling for Department of Defense clients and provides integrated logistics support for DoD, Northrop Grumman Corporation fighter aircraft, NAVAIR, the U.S. Army, and other military and civilian customers. Sherry joined the company after working as a civilian employee with the Air Force Eastern Test Range. She was trained in software and hardware tech writing and earned her doctorate at UCF in Texts and Technology, specializing in simulation and digital media.
